Full Time Director/Executive Finance

Hancock Federal Credit Union, located in Findlay, OH is seeking its next Vice President of Consumer Lending. Serving as a member of the leadership team, this role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the consumer lending and collections team. HFCU is a local financial institution that has been serving the community for over 85 years.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the consumer lending and collection department. This includes hiring, mentoring, evaluating performance, scheduling and training staff.
  • Provide strong leadership which fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees and members.
  • Actively participate in the formation, development, implementation, and administration of the credit union’s strategic plan. Establish departmental budgets and goals that support the credit union’s strategic plan. Monitor progress on a regular basis.
  • Work in cooperation with other management staff to ensure that all departments are well informed about all products, services, promotions, special products, changes to policies and/or procedures to ensure smooth operation of the credit union and the best possible member service. Build relationships that support cross-functional team building.
  • Maintain knowledge of all credit union products and services. Inspire appreciation of the members and set a high standard for product quality, product delivery, product promotion and member service.
  • Develop and maintain reliable and timely reporting as a basis for management planning and decision making.
  • Present reports to the board of directors, senior management, and credit union staff. Keep stakeholders up to date on trends and general credit union information.
  • Maintain knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the department. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit unio to react competitively.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor’s interest rates, fees and terms. Construct products, rates and terms that reflect the marketplace.
  • Identify areas for improvement, changes in services, procedures or products. Stay up to date with new technologies including implementation and upgrading of related systems.
  • Participate in all regulatory exams and audits.
  • Ensure that consumer loan and collection policies, procedures, services, products and documentation meet all federal and state regulations. Formulate and maintain a loan procedure manual for the department. Ensure staff training and compliance with all procedures. Responsible for complying with all credit union policies and procedures, including BSA/AML/OFAC.
  • Interview loan applicants and approve or deny loan applications.  Review staff loan approvals and denials for soundness of decisions.
  • Resolve member complaints involving loan decisions or errors on accounts. Ensure the highest quality of member service exists within the credit union.
  • Maintain strong relationships with credit union vendors and local auto dealerships. Communicate with them as needed for support.
  • Oversee the delinquent loan portfolio and recommend appropriate action to minimize losses to the credit union.
  • Maintains a strong HFCU presence in the market by actively participating in community organizations / projects and representing the credit union positively at these events.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in financial institutions required.
  • Must possess strong leadership and management skills that facilitate collaboration and teamwork. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
