Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Liaison to support our McComb, Ohio plant location with significant Haitian Creole immigrant populations transitioning to the United States. This role is crucial in helping these individuals navigate their new environment by connecting them with essential resources and services. The ideal candidate will be fluent in the required language(s), demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, and maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and respect. This position reports directly to the Human Resources department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for immigrant employees and their families, assisting them in understanding and accessing local services and resources.
- Resource Connection: Develop and maintain partnerships with local agencies, non-profits, and community organizations to provide support services, such as housing, healthcare, and legal assistance.
- Language Assistance: Provide translation and interpretation services to bridge communication gaps between immigrant employees and various external entities, ensuring that language barriers do not impede access to necessary resources.
- Orientation and Education: Facilitate orientation sessions and workshops to educate new arrivals on local customs, legal rights, and practical information (e.g., public transportation, banking, emergency services).
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrate a deep understanding of and respect for the diverse cultural backgrounds, religions, and beliefs of the immigrant populations served. Tailor support and resources to meet their specific cultural and religious needs.
- Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive personal information and concerns of immigrant employees.
- Feedback and Reporting: Collect feedback from immigrant employees to continuously improve support services and provide regular updates to the Human Resources department on the effectiveness of community liaison activities.
- Crisis Support: Provide immediate assistance in situations of urgent need, including but not limited to legal issues, medical emergencies, or housing crises.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in social work, human services, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications or training in community support or counseling are a plus.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Haitian Creole and French with strong verbal and written communication skills in both the required language and English.
- Experience: Previous experience working with immigrant populations or in a community support role preferred. Experience in a manufacturing or plant setting is a plus.
