FYP Volunteers: Queer Prom 2

Saturday, November 2, 2024 (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

FYP Volunteers Needed for Queer Prom Set-Up!

Spectrum, a local LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, has asked FYP to assist with set-up for their second annual Queer Prom. Join us at the Spectrum Office at 11:00 AM to load decorations, then head to the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts (MCPA) at 200 W Main Cross St, Findlay, OH 45840, to unload and help with set-up.

You do not need to be an FYP member to volunteer. Tasks include:

  • Building Lucielle, our 12-foot skeleton
  • Constructing the balloon arch
  • Decorating tables and the photobooth area
  • Setting up raffle tables and the non-alcoholic drink station
  • Organizing the door/ticket station
  • Assisting with other miscellaneous decorations

Spectrum works to create safe, inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ community in Findlay and beyond. This event is for anyone 18+ who would like to experience prom as their true, authentic selves. The prom runs from 7-11 PM, and tickets can be purchased here.

Spectrum believes events such as Findlay Pride and Queer Prom are important to Findlay, helping to cultivate a stronger community and sense of belonging. Queer Prom raises funds for programming, such as support groups, the UNROLED: Gender Affirming Closet, the Queermunity Pantry, and Queermunity Service. LGBTQ+ Spectrum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.”
